Bruce G. Ohr held two titles at DOJ Until demoted in 2017: associate deputy attorney general, a post that placed him four doors down from his boss, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein; and director of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), a program described by the department as “the centerpiece of the attorney general’s drug strategy.”
Bruce Ohr has been discovered through texts and emails to have his hand all over the Christopher Steele Dossier, for Opposition research against then candidate Trump. The fake dossier gave permission to spy on Trump campaign aide Carter Page. The Steele Dossier was created by Fusion GPS and paid for by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
It was recently discovered Bruce Ohr wrote to ex-British spy Christopher Steele that he was concerned after James Comey of the FBI was fired.
“very concerned (abt) about [former FBI Director James] Comey’s firing — afraid they will be exposed.”
Christopher Steele shopped the dossier to multiple media outlets, he also appeared to ask Ohr for help with a Russian oligarch — Oleg Deripaska — after rumors the U.S. might impose sanctions.
Bruce Ohr’s conflict of interest was at alarming levels, his wife Nellie worked for Fusion GPS. Steele, an ex-British spy, was a key source cited by the FBI and Department of Justice to obtain a FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) warrant to monitor Page.
According to Kimberley Strassel from the Wall Street Journal,
“Mr. Ohr was until last year associate deputy attorney general. He began feeding information to the FBI from dossier author Christopher Steele in late 2016—after the FBI had terminated Mr. Steele as a confidential informant for violating the bureau’s rules. He also collected dirt from Glenn Simpson, cofounder of Fusion GPS, the opposition-research firm that worked for Hillary Clinton’s campaign and employed Mr. Steele. Altogether, the FBI pumped Mr. Ohr for information at least a dozen times, debriefs that remain in classified 302 forms.”
Bruce Ohr failed to disclose on financial forms that his wife, Nellie, worked alongside Mr. Steele in 2016, getting paid by Mr. Simpson for anti-Trump research.
President Trump responded on Twitter to the new information that has been revealed,
““Very concerned about Comey’s firing, afraid they will be exposed,” said Bruce Ohr. DOJ’s Emails & Notes show Bruce Ohr’s connection to (phony & discredited) Trump Dossier. A creep thinking he would get caught in a dishonest act. Rigged Witch Hunt!”
Glen Simpson claimed in a congress testimony last year he had no contact with Bruce Ohr. With new evidence that is clearly a lie with email evidence to prove he did in fact speak with Bruce Ohr.
Bruce Ohr will be interrogated on Aug. 28, when a closed-door interview is scheduled with the House oversight and judiciary committees as part of their joint investigation into the FBI and DOJ’s conduct during the presidential election.
It seems there is good cause for Bruce Ohr to be “very concerned about Comey’s firing — afraid they will be exposed.”
