The left-wing media and Democrats have been pushing a false story that Nathan Phillips is a Vietnam vet, but that has turned out to be false. Nathan Phillips never served in Vietnam and was never deployed to Vietnam. It is unclear if Nathan Phillips served in the Military due to records have not been released.

The Washington Post has retracted their statement that Phillips was a Vietnam Vet.

Correction: Earlier versions of this story incorrectly said that Native American activist Nathan Phillips fought in the Vietnam War. Phillips served in the U.S. Marines from 1972 to 1976 but was never deployed to Vietnam.

When Nathan Phillips appeared on CNN to talk about the incident with the MAGA hat Kids they claimed he was a Vietnam vet. To be fair in the video Phillips does claim Vietnam era vet.

However, ‘This Ain’t Hell’ (which focuses on stolen valor claims) points out for many years the media has been claiming he is a Vietnam Vet. Either Phillips is claiming to Journalists he is a Vietnam Vet or the Journalists are over Zealous.

Indigenous Life Movement shows Phillips as a Vietnam Vet.

This Ain’t Hell continued noting other sources,

“In a Forbes.com article, it states that Mr. Phillips “was placed in a foster home as a child and later joined the Marines and served in Vietnam.”   However, this was not a direct quote from Nathan Phillips.  This seemed to reference a Detroit Free Press article which emphasized Phillips’ life story.”

“In the Detroit Free Press article, it claims Phillips is a “former Marine” and went on later to elaborate more, stating that Phillips served in the Vietnam War.”

It is unclear if Nathan Phillips has committed the crime of stolen valor, but it is clear Nathan Phillips was ‘NOT’ a Vietnam Vet and should stop referring to himself as a ‘Vietnam Era Vet’ to clear confusion. It is very possible Nathan Phillips is a military veteran, and I am not questioning his service in the military. But, it is worth noting Phillips has not provided documents to prove his service and he does have a history of lying.
