Congress passed an agreement on the border wall funding, but it will still need to be signed by President Trump in order to pass. The agreement is far below the $5.7 billion Trump is requesting. The deal was reached Monday night.
–Congress agreed on a $1.375 billion for the wall, which will cover 55 miles.
–ICE detention beds from 49,057 to 40,520.
The agreement reached tonight would include:
-$1.375b for border barriers (55 new miles of bollard fencing)
-Dems drop call for new cap on ICE beds for detentions in interior
-Overall cap on detention beds drops from 49,057 to 40,520
Per congressional official.

It is unclear if President Trump will agree to this deal, and the main issue that may stick up the deal are the drop in detention beds. President Trump does not agree with allowing illegal criminals to roam free because Democrats don’t want to detain people.
