The Republican bill ‘Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act’ was voted down by Democrats on Monday evening. The bill needed 60 votes to pass the Senate, but failed with a final tally of 53-44.
The bill was not a proposal to hamper abortions, and should have received 100 percent votes to pass. The bill demanded if a baby was born it would be mandated to save it’s life instead of letting it die.
According to the Daily Wire,
“”This bill amends the federal criminal code to require any health care practitioner who is present when a child is born alive following an abortion or attempted abortion to: (1) exercise the same degree of care as reasonably provided to any other child born alive at the same gestational age, and (2) ensure that such child is immediately admitted to a hospital,” reads the legislation.”
“”The term ‘born alive,'” the bill explains, “means the complete expulsion or extraction from his or her mother, at any stage of development, who after such expulsion or extraction breathes or has a beating heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, regardless of whether the umbilical cord has been cut.””
The 44 ‘NO’ votes came from the Democrats, but they did have three members who turned on their party and voted ‘YES.’ The three Senators who turned were Sen. Bob Casey Jr. (D-PA), Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), and Sen. Doug Jones (D-AL).
It is worth noting ever Democrat Senator who is running for President in 2020 voted against this clearly moral and needed bill. Remember these Democrats do not want to save a baby’s life when it comes time to vote.
