Robert ‘Beto’ O’Rourke is expected to officially announce his Presidential run for 2020 according to Dallas Morning News. Sources close to O’Rourke announced he will not be running for Senator of Texas next year against Republican incumbent John Cornyn.
O’Rourke acknowledged he and his wife already decided what he plans to do for 2020, but has not announced it to the public. O’Rourke stated to the news outlet, “Amy and I have made a decision about how we can best serve our country. We are excited to share it with everyone soon.”
O’Rourke will be joining a crowded field of Democrats in the 2020 primaries. The next big domino to fall will be former Vice President Joe Biden, who is rumored to have requested Beto to be Vice President if Biden wins the nomination.
Texans should be excited with the announcement that Beto will not be running for Senate due to his close race with Ted Cruz. John Cornyn could have been at risk to Beto because he is not as big of a name as Cruz.
