President Trump took aim at Universities around the country for not protecting free speech of Conservatives on their campuses. During Trump’s speech at CPAC he announced he will be signing an executive order to cut federal funding from any university that does not protect Conservatives right to free speech.
President Trump made this an issue after young Conservatove Hayden Williams was punched in the face at University of California, Berkeley. Williams was recruiting students to join Turning Point USA, which triggered an attack from many leftists on campus.
Trump stated, “Today I am proud to announce that I will be very soon signing an executive order requiring colleges and universities to support free speech if they want federal resources.”
Trump continued, “If they want our dollars and we give it to them by the billions they’ve gotta allow people like Hayden and many other great young people and old people to speak. Free speech. And if they don’t it will be very costly.”
