Nancy Pelosi was asked in a press conference if she agreed with bill H.R.1 or the ACLU who opposes the bill. H.R.1 bill proposes to lower the federal voting age to 16-years-old. Pelosi claimed she want’s to lower the legal voting age to 16 (because they are the only ones stupid enough to vote for their policies).
Pelosi stated, “I disagree with the ACLU on this. In terms of legislation, we couldn’t be prouder of H.R. 1.This is about reducing the role of big dark special interest money in politics and empowering small donors. It’s about ending voter suppression. It’s about making re-districting fairer. It’s really a source of joy and hope to so many people in the country.”
Pelosi continued, “I myself, personally, not speaking for my caucus, I myself have always been for lowering the voting age to 16. I think it’s really important to capture kids when they’re in high school when they’re interested in all of this and learning about government to be able to vote.”
Pelosi concluded, “Some of the priorities in this bill are about transparency, openness, and accessibility, and the rest. That’s a subject of debate and I would welcome it, but I’ve held this position for a long time.”
