Attorney General William Barr announced who will lead the investigation into the origins of the Russian Probe investigation.  William Barr has appointed U.S. attorney John Durham to lead this investigation.

The Associated Press wrote, “Barr appointed John Durham, the U.S. attorney in Connecticut, to conduct the inquiry, the person said. The person could not discuss the matter publicly and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.“

The AP noted, “The inquiry, which will focus on whether the government’s methods to collect intelligence relating to the Trump campaign were lawful and appropriate, is separate from an investigation by the Justice Department’s inspector general. The agency’s watchdog is also examining the Russia probe’s origins and Barr has said he expects the watchdog report to be done in May or June.“

Durham is a great pick to lead this investigation considering he was nominated by Trump, and is experienced with investigating corruption.

AP reported, “Durham is a career prosecutor who was nominated for his post as U.S. attorney in Connecticut by Trump. He has previously investigated law enforcement corruption, the destruction of CIA videotapes and the Boston FBI office’s relationship with mobsters.“

Many Conservatives are excited about the Barr’s pick to lead the investigation.

Schmidt wrote, “NEW: Barr has asked the US attorney in CT, John Durham, to examine the origins of the Russia investigation. Sure to please Trump but not current and former FBI officials who have defended their handling of investigation. “

Trish Regan Tweeted, “BREAKING: The Attorney General appoints a CT attorney with history of investigating officials to get to the bottom of why the FBI was spying on the Trump campaign, per AP report. This could expose some pretty bad stuff…. Stay tuned.“

Hamilton Tweeted, “AG Barr made a great choice in choosing US Attorney Durham. Per the @nytimes: “Attorney General Janet Reno asked Mr. Durham in 1999 to investigate the F.B.I.’s handling of a notorious informant: the organized crime leader James (Whitey) Bulger.””
